Lyrebird film receives Pigeon D’or Award nomination

The Luis Bunuel Memorial Awards (LBMA) will celebrate it's 3rd annual Pigeon D’or Awards gala in the city of art and joy at the Rotary Sadan, Kolkata on 17 February, 2023 where The Message of the Lyrebird has been nominated in the category of Film on Nature/Environment/Wildlife.

Eight international nature films have been nominated for the Pigeon D’or Award. The nominees are:

‘A Winter’s Tale’ directed by Dean Sills/Steve Call – United Kingdom

’S.O.S. Sparrow’ directed by Enrique Amigo – Spain

‘Socotra 4K’ directed by Andrii Andreiev – Ukraine

‘Kuli Calling’ directed by Dr Satyakam Phukan – India

‘Airguides’ directed by Tyson Lloyd – Australia

‘Miasma’ directed by Junaid Imam Shaikh – India

‘The Message of the Lyrebird’ directed by Mark B Pearce – Australia

‘Prelude (Sentimental Study)’ directed by Hilda Daniel – United States

The Pigeon D’or Award nominees were selected from the best films of the 2022 Luis Bunuel Memorial Awards (LMBA) monthly editions and were announced on 26 January, 2023 – India Republic Day.

The 2023 Pigeon D’or Awards Annual Gala will be held in the centre of India’s historic cultural and cinema capital – Kolkata, where the the presence of more than 1,000 filmmakers across the will witness a fascinating world of films in one day at the Rotary Sadan.

The objective of LBMA, organized by L’Age d’Or International Art-house Film Festival (LIAFF), is to support risk-taking filmmakers from around the world, who put their heart and soul to tell a story. The festival welcomes filmmakers who explore and develop new filmmaking conventions in their quest to realise their visions effectively on a limited budget.

The grand event is set to celebrate the art of filmmaking in all its true colours and forms.
